National Marine Educators Association NMEA invites abstracts for the four education-focused sessions at the upcoming Ocean Sciences Meeting (OSM) 2026, taking place 22–27 February 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. Abstracts to one or more of the sessions that highlight innovation, collaboration, and impact in ocean science education, outreach, and workforce development are due by Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Whether your work takes place in classrooms, labs, field programs, or community spaces, your voice is welcome.

A Sea of Learning: Sharing Stories of Ocean Engagement invites contributions that advance ocean education and literacy in support of the UN Ocean Decade. We welcome examples of innovative programs, partnerships, and engagement strategies that make ocean science accessible, honor diverse knowledge systems, and strengthen connections between people and the ocean across all ages and learning environments.

Educator Workshop Effectiveness: What Works and What Doesn’t focuses on the design, delivery, and evaluation of educator workshops. We welcome case studies, evaluations, and lessons learned from professional development experiences in ocean and environmental science. Help us explore what makes educator workshops meaningful and effective—and where there's room to improve.

From Research to Reach: Ocean Science Collaborations for Broader Societal Impact showcases effective collaborations between ocean scientists and educators that enhance STEM education and public engagement. We invite case studies, strategies, and lessons learned from outreach efforts that translate complex science into impactful programming, expand research reach, and advance societal impact across formal, informal, and community-based learning settings.

Where are they now? Impacts of Transformative At-Sea Experiences for Undergraduates and their Mentors reflects on a decade of ocean-going learning experiences like STEMSEAS that have provided undergraduates with immersive exposure to ocean science and STEM careers. Presentations from students, mentors, and program managers are invited to share impacts, lessons learned, and effective models for education and workforce development at sea.

Presenters may choose to attend in person in Glasgow or online. You’ll be asked to indicate your presentation format during submission.
