The “I Live by the Sea – International Youth Photo and Film Contest” is a global competition for young people (ages 5–21) to express their relationship with the sea through creative media. Participants submit a photo or a short film + a short text/story around “your sea” —

  • what makes it special

  • environmental or cultural stories

  • personal connections or experiences

The contest supports the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and aims to raise ocean awareness (blue literacy), encourage environmental responsibility, and connect youth worldwide through shared perspectives on marine life

Both an art contest and an environmental awareness initiative

Open to ages 5–21 worldwide

Submission: 1 photo or 1 film (up to ~3 minutes or 1-minute short) with a short descriptive text

Deadline: May 12 - Winners announced: June 8, 2026
